Reporting to the Head of Investor Relations / Corporate Sustainability, the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Analyst leads the development and implementation of sustainability improvements in company operations. The position’s responsibilities include cross-functional engagement throughout the company and also with various external stakeholders.  The analyst is responsible for gathering key information required for Air Canada’s ESG reporting and maturity. In doing so, they will contribute to the sustainability strategy, social responsibility, and good reputation of Air Canada.
Key Functions and Accountabilities 
  • Monitor ESG issues throughout the year and contribute to reporting of performance in the corporate reports. Identify trends in sustainability and social impact.
  • Perform due diligence with subject matter experts, fact verification and analysis in preparation of the Corporate Sustainability Report and external limited assurance audit.  
  • Project management including tracking the time/task planning, progress against plan, and coordinate meetings/project logistics.
  • Research all potential sources of ESG knowledge and expertise to construct, populate and maintain a virtual library of all aspects of ESG including key information, policies and programs, governing statues/regulations and government policies/processes.
  • Perform due diligence, fact verification and analysis for various ESG surveys expected from stakeholders.  
  • Cataloging existing requirements and/or approaches from investors, lenders, and investment managers.
  • Day to day management of ESG matters, including coordinating with external advisors and stakeholders.  Liaise with other communication professionals to ensure accuracy in Air Canada’s continuous disclosure documents including the Management Discussion & Analysis, Annual Information Form and Proxy Circular.
  • Keep up to date with best practices in ESG in the aviation industry and for leading companies in Canada, US, and Europe.  Support various RFP processes with input of ESG data. 
  • Assist the Corporate Sustainability Communications Manager with creation and upkeep of Air Canada’s sustainability website.
  • Liaise with the Corporate Sustainability Communications Manager and contribute to the development and continuous updating of public Corporate Sustainability information, including Board materials.  Produce reports, presentations and other material for meetings.
  • Work closely with Investor Relations colleagues to offer support on ESG matters.
  • Preparing and presenting status reports, on an ad hoc basis.  
  • Prepare reports required for Air Canada Sponsorship Committee review. 


  • University business, finance, sustainability degree or other related field.
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following fields is an asset: business, management, risk management, sustainable development, sustainable finance, consulting, finance, capital markets, corporate reporting, investor relations, governance.
  • Understanding of ESG landscape, an asset.  Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of ESG practices and emerging trends, including integration into investment decision making, impact investing, engagement, sustainability reporting including SASB, TCFD.
  • Experience in planning and forecasting.
  • Knowledgeable and conversant with reporting and analysis tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong project management skills.  
  • Ability to handle pressure and competing demands.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French.
