The IT Governance Advisor will implement the strategy to deploy and operationalize the IT Governance framework that monitors performance against organizational objectives to ensure enterprise value creation.  The IT Governance Advisor will work with stakeholders to ensure the appropriate processes and controls are in place to protect, enhance and ensure the availability of IT assets to support enterprise goals.  The IT Governance Advisor will play a key role in soliciting and managing stakeholder inputs and feedback within the IT Governance framework as well as support the transition of complete streams from the program state to operations.  
 
The IT Governance Advisor will support the monitoring and reporting performance and compliance against organizational goals as well as support initiatives to improve the IT Operating model to ensure continual value from the IT branch.  The IT Governance Advisor will work closely with the Sr. Manager of IT Governance to develop and implement the IT Governance strategy and plan.
 
KEY FUNCTIONS
  • Support the development of the IT Governance deployment strategy and business case to detail expected costs and benefits from a tailored IT governance program focused on maturing the overall IT operating model within Air Canada Support the development of an IT
  • Work with stakeholders to solicit inputs and feedback to ensure the IT Governance framework has the appropriate processes and controls are in place to protect, enhance and ensure the availability of IT assets. 
  • Track progress against established governance and management objectives to ensure expected benefits are on-track and being realized 
  • Support the development of roles and responsibilities and process methodologies to drive consistent and reliable governance process. 
  • Implement processes to assess and monitor the effectiveness IT procedures to ensure adherence to standards and policies as appropriate
  • Initiate and conduct ongoing and regular reviews to ensure technology and governance best practices are incorporated into the procedures and operationalized. 
  • Monitor key performance and key risk indicators against established targets.  Ensure visibility, escalation, and management of IT risks and issues in the delivery of technology services.  
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and materials for regularly scheduled IT Governance reviews with leadership 
  • Coordinate the development of clear roles and responsibilities across all of IT to ensure seamless delivery of IT services  
  • Facilitate gap analysis assessments between enterprise and IT goals through the execution of independent capability & maturity assessments for IT functions  
  • Track and report on the IT Governance program progress and support the transition of implemented streams to operations 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in IT 
  • 5+ years’ experience related to the implementation of IT governance methodologies. 
  • COBIT, ITIL or other relevant certification
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence the actions of internal stakeholders and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Experience in the development of IT processes, methods, standards, tools and measurement/scorecards
  • Experience in risk and controls assessment
  • Strong teamwork skills, embodies Air Canada’s philosophies, vision and values
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, communicate succinctly and efficiently
  • Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Required as of October 31st 2021
  • High school diploma or equivalence;
