Preferred Location:  Chicago Miami or the Greater New-York 

This position is responsible for senior oversight of commercial and operational Cargo activities in the United States and Latin America. The commercial responsibilities include coordinating with the Senior Director, Global Sales and Revenue Optimization for developing and increasing Air Canada’s revenue, market share and profitability including maximizing revenues from agency agreements, interline agreements, direct customers and contract carriers in the US and Latin America. Operational responsibilities include the oversight and support of cargo service functions at all Air Canada warehouses and cargo specific ramp operations within the region. Provides oversight of the region’s compliance for all safety and quality programs. Promotes and provides the highest standards of customer service to all categories of customer. Effectively manages the region’s P&L by driving the most efficient utilization of the resources available. 
  • Responsible for planning, developing and implementing all cargo sales acquisition thrusts, as well as promotional and solicitation strategies in the US/LatAm.
  • Responsible for all AC Cargo’s operational and customer services activities in the US/LatAm.
  • Establish competitive commercial strategies to meet cargo revenue and tonnage targets in US/LatAm.
  • Determine revenue, expense and performance management objectives; monitor results and take corrective action as required to ensure that agreed objectives are achieved.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with the cargo industry, agency, other carriers, government offices, clubs, associations, etc.
  • Negotiate and oversee all interline, general sales agency agreements and ground handling agreements in the US on behalf of AC Cargo with support and guidance from the head office.
  • Monitor the activities of all ground handlers at AC Cargo’s stations in the region to ensure full compliance with standard operating procedures, safety and quality assurance processes and Air Canada’s customer service levels.
  • Monitor the activities of AC Cargo’s general sales agents in the region to ensure full compliance with Air Canada’s commercial, operational and customer service strategies and ethical standards.
  • Analyze cargo sales results: Evaluate revenue improvement opportunities and costs related to proposed product.
  • Monitor and evaluate key indicators for sales outlook; prepare revenue forecasts for the region’s Cargo Sales and Marketing Plan, as required.
  • Closely manage the expense budgets for all AC Cargo stations in the US/LatAm as well as identify and capitalize on any and all costs containment opportunities.
  • Provide functional direction of all AC Cargo staff and general sales agents in US/LatAm.
  • Ensure that the Cargo Branch’s iSMS Core Elements and Occupational Health and Safety requirements, (including Safety and Quality Assurance and Audit Programs) are developed, maintained and are effective in US and Latin America.
  • Seek out and identify safety hazards and deficiencies within AC Cargo’s US/LatAm division through the active encouragement of a non punitive reporting culture.


  • University or college diploma in business administration
  • 7 to 10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years in airline business
  • Minimum 5 years in supervisory role
  • Significant achievements in yield improvement
  • Experience in change management considered an asset
  • Proven superior interpersonal skills and leadership capabilities
  • Strong analytical capabilities and able to quick decision-making with a certain level of ambiguity (risk management)
  • Result focused, entrepreneurial, adaptable and action oriented
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Linguistic Requirements

Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates. English is required. Multi-lingual in Spanish and/or Portuguese being preferred as well as French.
