Air Canada is seeking a Manager, Infrastructure & Network (Solutions). This individual will be responsible to manage a diverse team of 10 network specialists located across Canada with the mandate to develop, deliver and manage network solutions aligned with the technology and deployment standards in close collaboration with other IT, business and vendor teams. The individual will be responsible for the ongoing development of the team to ensure appropriate skills, resource levels and support for project execution with a team of vendors that manage Air Canada network services comprising the Air Canada Global Network. It has become essential for the network to be highly secured, operationally stable and suitably maintained to ensure continuous operation in support of our employees to better serve our customers. This individual will be responsible for working with the project management office and the airline’s primary network vendors to ensure timely delivery of project work and working closely with the Air Canada IT Operations and Cyber Security Operations teams to ensure safe, secure and reliable operations of all network services.

This position reports to the Director Network Services. 

Description
  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, and onboarding employees
  • Responsible for maintaining a healthy work environment including development of personal growth opportunities for reporting employees
  • Communicate job expectations, monitoring, and appraising employee performance
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and counseling to employees
  • Responsible for ensuring the team’s staffing and skill levels are kept aligned with the business priorities as Air Canada continues to grow and adapt to technological advances
  • Provide leadership and direction for the team as required to maintain timely delivery of project activities from initial request and assignment through transition to operations on completion
  • Ensure all project proposals from network providers are reviewed to be compliant with business, operational and contractual requirements
  • Ensure all changes conducted by the network providers are compliant with the Change Management, Asset Management and Security policies
  • Work closely with the primary network services providers to maintain currency of the Network Services document repository containing information relating to the technical function and support of network infrastructure including project documentation, current network topology, support procedures and business critical or important application flows
  • Develop and promote Network Services technology standards, policies and guidelines for ensuring adoption of standard services 
    • Ensure representation of Network Services at the Architecture and Solution Review boards
    • Review and manage exceptions to standards and policies as necessary 
  • Support activities related to technology life cycle and development of the annual Network Services Maintenance Plan and Strategic Roadmap
  • Support activities related to the operational budget processes including reconciliation of one time and recurring fees related to project activities
    • Develop and implement tracking for adjustments to forecasts based on project activities
    • Support monthly financial reconciliation and monthly cash flow forecasts
    • Provide input to Network Services annual budget and long term planning
  • Provide leadership and direction for the team as required to support the Incident Management process 
  • Support activities related to Cyber Security Audit, PCI Compliance and reporting of Security Control Effectiveness
  • Work with various Business Units to improve Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and investments

Qualifications

  • Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Required as of October 31st 2021
  • A relevant University degree/certifications and/or relevant experience 
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT technology, operations and people leadership 
  • Strong leadership and experience with Managed Services and multi-vendor network environments 
  • Experience with project management best practices
  • Working knowledge of financial processes for projects and operations in a large enterprise
  • Working knowledge of ITSM Processes
  • Experience with ITSM Tools, in particular ServiceNow
  • Familiar with emerging technologies and integration with cloud based services
  • Strong communication skills to work with management at all levels of business, Air Canada IT and vendor organizations both written and verbal
  • Bring a sense of urgency, drive for results with analytical skills 
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Experience in the airline industry
