Resident in the Regional Markets branch, the Director, Regional Airlines and Markets will provide leadership on operational and commercial compliance with Air Canada’s regional carriers. This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.
The main responsibilities of the Director, Regional Airlines and Markets are:
  • Overall accountability on behalf of Air Canada for managing the Jazz Capacity Purchase Agreement, which represents AC’s single largest supplier contract 
  • Act as internal champion of all Air Canada regional carriers
  • In addition to Jazz, provide leadership to other regional carrier’s contracts
  • Act as internal liaison for all regional carrier’s management to enable issue resolution
  • Oversee all contractual aspects of the regional carrier relationships, including financial and regional fleet elements
  • Negotiate/implement changes to regional carrier agreements (CPA and associated agreements)
  • Create and maintain guides for service requirements and standards for regional carrier to ensure operational and commercial integrity
  • Liaise with Network Planning on CPA fleet and schedule requirements
  • Ensure all regional capacity is deployed to ensure maximum leverage for Air Canada 
  • Run internal financial and operational CPA review meetings
  • Develop and maintain audit process with Air Canada Airports and other groups to monitor regional carrier’s performance
  • Provide commercial and operational direction to other groups within Air Canada (such as Sales, Government Relations, Marketing, Airport Development) with regards to Domestic and Transborder regional markets
  • Establish standard reporting measures on regional operators/industry comparison reports
  • Develop/maintain relationships with external stakeholders (primarily Airport Authorities)
  • Represent Air Canada in regional markets across the AC network
  • Act as a liaison between Air Canada branches and ensure implementation of initiatives at each regional carrier 


  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and engage people
  • Self-starter with demonstrated interpersonal skills and initiative
  • Demonstrated change management and coaching skills
  • Motivated by relationship management 
  • Strong communication and negotiation  skills
  • Established network of contacts within AC commercial and operational branches
  • High level of comfort with financial aspects of the airline business
  • Understanding of business strategy particularly as it relates to the airline industry
  • Thorough understanding of the regional airline business model and industry
  • Contract and SLA knowledge
