Air Canada is currently undergoing a rapid global expansion plan which involves an intensive fleet transition plan, expansion into new markets and the acquisition of Air Transat which is causing an increased demand for international tax advice. 

The International Tax Manager will report to the Dublin based Director, International Tax and be involved with managing international income and transactional tax risks in relation to (i) a wide range of aircraft and engine transactions (including sales, purchases, leases, novation’s, extensions and redeliveries) (ii) new routes/markets and (iii) other ad-hoc projects (including mergers and acquisitions).

The role will work closely with both the Dublin based tax team (Director & Manager) as well as the Canadian based legal, finance, treasury, aircraft programs and maintenance teams (some international travel will be involved).

The role and responsibilities can be adapted to someone at either (1) recently qualified level with a desire to move into a tax manager role or (2) a tax manager looking for a new challenge, but will consist of; 

  • Reviewing term sheets and agreements relating to aircraft and engines including purchase, sale, lease, sub-lease, lease extension, novation, financings and re-financings.
  • Undertaking research on Air Canada’s tax risks in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Assessing the tax implications of proposed transactions and proposing solutions to minimize tax implications.
  • Assisting with other ad-hoc international tax issues.


  • Degree in Law, Business or Tax with a strong academic record.
  • CTA/AITI qualified (finalist may be considered with relevant experience).
  • Ability to interpret complex legal concepts and language.
  • Experience/Knowledge of aircraft and/or aviation industry a distinct advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Sound judgment, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • To succeed in this role, the incumbent should be curious, flexible, perseverant and capable of handling situations within tight deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must have the right to work in Ireland without restriction.
