Air Canada is looking for a Privacy Specialist to support our privacy compliance team.

Privacy matters to our customers, our employees, our business and our brand. Air Canada operates around the globe and is subject to a wide variety of privacy and related laws, including data protection and anti-spam laws. To help meet the growing complexities and challenges, we are seeking an innovative, passionate, execution and customer-oriented Privacy Specialist to join our Privacy Compliance team in Montreal.

Reporting to the Principal Privacy Officer, the Privacy Specialist will be an integral member of a growing team committed to the design and implementation of Air Canada’s next-generation privacy governance program. The Privacy Specialist responsibilities will include:


  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the accuracy of content of the privacy reports and metrics to demonstrate privacy performance
  • Designing creative ways to communicate Privacy objectives to the targeted audience, for example PowerPoint and flowcharts to develop and deliver presentations and content effectively
  • Providing privacy support to business leaders on when and how to perform privacy related requirements such as Privacy Impact Assessment requirements
  • Accountable for record keeping requirements such as Records of Processing Activities and maintaining records of Privacy Impact Assessments which includes scheduling meetings, collecting documents and tracking status
  • Responsible for keeping up to data privacy breach records, policies, procedures, template letters and notices as required
  • Partnering with various branches including Legal, IT, Customer Experience, People, Culture and Communications, Loyalty, E-commerce, and Sales, to achieve corporate objectives
  • Developing or updating privacy training material, awareness campaigns/ publications autonomously or in collaboration with others including managing cross departmental relationships. Preparing, drafting and sending correspondence including notifications to regulators
  • Some administrative support may be required such as updating presentations, letters and other documents and coordinating
  • Managing the relationship with external service providers who support the privacy program
  • Preparing filing requirements and filing registrations, updates and renewals with foreign regulators
  • Supporting requirements to handle regulatory complaints and investigations including the collection of information, documents as well as setting up witness interviews
  • Identify, initiate and implement process improvements to better enable team objectives 


  • University degree, paralegal or equivalent certification/ education
  • Knowledge and experience with PIPEDA, and global privacy laws including the GDPR, an asset
  • Project management experience and familiarity with information technology systems and tools an asset
  • Expert skill with PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, Teams, SharePoint
  • Execution oriented
