We are seeking a Manager, Air Canada Foundation – Fundraising and Development with at least 5 to 8 years of relevant experience to join our dynamic team in Montreal. Reporting to the Director, Communications Optimization, the Manager, Air Canada Foundation – Fundraising and Development is responsible for the revenue generation and overall fundraising planning, financial management, donor relations (including reporting), while ensuring alignment with Air Canada’s corporate brand strategy. The person will be called upon to perform the following tasks (among others):
Develop and implement fundraising strategies to expand the Air Canada Foundation’s pipeline of donors, including comprehensive development strategies for various segments.
Continue to develop, plan, and align the Air Canada Foundation’s programs and initiatives, and implement the necessary tools, systems and infrastructure needed for support.
Primary relationship manager among donors by cultivating existing and new relationships.
Oversee donor research, identification, and communication with a long-term relationship management approach.
Manage donor donation database, as well as the timeline for solicitation, communication and reports for donors.
Together with the Air Canada Foundation Investments Manager, build constructive alliances and coalitions with key constituency groups (businesses, charitable organizations, hospitals, management, board of directors, employees). In collaboration with Foundation’s team members, as well as colleagues in various departments, explore new opportunities and oversee the application review process for community needs that provide opportunities for innovative philanthropy within the Foundation’s mission.
Seek and build Board of Directors involvement, and support the Board of Directors as they take on active fundraising roles.
In collaboration with the Communications Manager, identify and implement communication strategies in order to promote Air Canada’s involvement, through the Foundation as well as various philanthropic activities in the communities, through the use of social and traditional media.
Oversee creation of content to strengthen and standardize the Air Canada Foundation’s image across communication channels, ensuring consistency between fundraising and program materials.
Gather quality industry input from internal and external resources for planning purposes.
Represent and act as key spokesperson for Air Canada during various events supported by the Foundation to promote Air Canada’s philanthropic activities.
The successful candidate will need to have strong organizational skills and possess meaningful experience in philanthropy and community investments. Knowledge of the industry, marketing communications and experience with a foundation are an asset.
Bilingualism and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Integrity (including a strong work ethic, discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information, dedication to follow through on commitments, and openness and honesty in communicating as well as a respectful demeanour) is assumed.
To succeed in the position, the candidate should have a track record demonstrating the following qualities or characteristics:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the fundraising, business development and communications environment.
- Relevant post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of experience and education;
- Either a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation or demonstrated success in fundraising;
- Outstanding organization, project management and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with strict deadlines.
- High familiarity with common social media networks.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office;
- Discretion and tact;
- Availability to work flexible hours, on occasion;
- Capable communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work without immediate and constant supervision;
- Ability to work well under pressure with speed and precision, and to determine priorities to meet various deadlines;
- Desire to take on new initiatives, to learn and adapt to new types of work and to changing requirements;
- A desire and ability to continuously expand and update professional knowledge and hone training skills to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
