Reporting to Managing Director, Operations IT, this position is responsible for the overall employee, and customer, experience as it relates to the introduction of technology within the aircraft cabin environment. This would include, but is not limited to the integration of people, process and technology to ensure a coordinated and seamless introduction and experience for our customers and employees. This role will ensure alignment between the In-Flight Service (IFS) team, the Product team and the Operations IT team as it relates to the technology roadmap, priorities, and success criteria for both deploying new or expanded technology as well as a support model for the users. This role will be accountable for managing timelines and key program deliverables covering all technology initiatives within the aircraft cabin. In addition, this position will administer inventory control measures and manage forecasts of required hardware for the department, analyze business needs relative to operational processes proposing solutions with cost effective and operational performance benefits, identify and leverage best practices in the industry, and develop process improvements utilizing technological innovation beyond those currently available to transform the business.

  • Lead the cabin mobility & technology program for IFS at Air Canada.
  • Ensure appropriate technology solutions are implemented to ensure business objectives are achieved and support the cabin team with technology solutions.
  • Provide leadership and direction for industry leading technology trends in the cabin.
  • Communicate strategy and direction within the IFS Leadership Team.
  • Ensure alignment with cabin technology direction with Air Canada’s technology roadmap
  • Represent IFS and IFEC items on the Operations Joint Mobility Committee.
  • Contribute IFS perspective on best practices and collaborate with Operational groups to improve and evolve mobility landscape.
  • Lead discussions with Cabin Crew members to gather feedback on mobility program and collaborate with IT to prioritize new features and functions.
  • Main point of contact during development and implementation of new or improved applications. This includes ensuring IFS is adequately represented during business requirements gathering, testing, and deployment support phases.
  • Liaison with Cabin Safety and Publications to ensure all change and processes are appropriately approved and documented as required.
  • Liaison with Cabin Experience, Standards & Procedures, as well as all Safety and Regulatory groups as required.
  • Act as In-Flight Branch single point of communication related to technology and innovation, including the monitoring and administration of all communications.
  • Act as branch liaison for iPad & other mobile devices and/or related issues reported from Line Operations and follow through with resolutions.
  • Monitor and administer tablet and accessory sparing program in conjunction with Operations IT, Flight Operations and Maintenance, ensuring inventory levels are maintained across all bases.
  • In conjunction with Operations IT, coordinate application support for all aircraft cabin technology;
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and directions.

 

Qualifications

  •  Must possess industry related experience and/or technical degrees that are consistent with the business area being supported
  • Possess knowledge of Air Canada IFS Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Six Sigma green/black belt training desirable.
  • Understanding of project management best practices and ability to support and deliver within a project governance framework
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral English at an advanced level. Bilingual preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities and ability to mentor and coach others
  • Experience with managing effective business relationships with key stakeholders at all levels including Senior and/or Executive Management level.
  • Experience in developing business case and in performing cost benefit analysis.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems
  • Strong organizational skills with an aptitude to juggle priorities to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in documenting business requirements
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours and weekends, as required.
