Reporting to Director Airports IT Systems Technology Innovation and Support, this position is responsible for the overall employee, and customer, experience as it relates to the introduction of technology within the Airport environment. This would include, but is not limited to the integration of people, process and technology to ensure a coordinated and seamless introduction and experience for our customers and employees. This role will ensure alignment between the various functions under the Airports Team, the International team, the Product team and the Operations IT team as it relates to the technology roadmap, priorities, and success criteria for both deploying new or expanded technology as well as a support model for users. This role will be accountable for managing timelines and key program deliverables covering all technology initiatives within airports at a global level. In addition, this position will administer inventory control measures and manage forecasts of required hardware for the department, analyze business needs relative to operational processes proposing solutions with cost effective and operational performance benefits, identify and leverage best practices in the industry, and develop process improvements utilizing technological innovation beyond those currently available to transform the business.

  • Lead the Airports and International technology innovation program for Air Canada.
  • Ensure appropriate technology solutions are implemented to ensure business objectives are achieved and support Airports management team with technology solutions.
  • Provide leadership and direction for industry leading technology trends in the Airports and customer experience space.
  • Represent Air Canada at industry events as required.
  • Ensure alignment with Airports technology direction with Air Canada’s technology roadmap
  • Ensure Airports strategic direction is aligned across all customer touch points with Air Canada
  • Represent Airports technology across Air Canada and industry working groups and committees as required
  • Contribute Airports perspective on best practices and collaborate with Operational groups to improve and evolve technology landscape.
  • Main point of contact during strategic roadmap development and the evaluation of new or improved applications.
  • Liaison with all appropriate groups to ensure all change and processes are appropriately approved and documented as required.
  • Act as the Airports & International Branches single point of communication related to technology and innovation 
  • In conjunction with Operations IT, coordinate application support for all Airports technology;
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and directions

Qualifications

  • Must possess industry related experience and/or technical degrees that are consistent with the business area being supported
  • Possess knowledge of Air Canada Airports and/or Operations environments.
  • Six Sigma green/black belt training desirable.
  • Understanding of project management best practices and ability to support and deliver within a project governance framework
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral English at an advanced level. Bilingual preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities and ability to mentor and coach others.
  • Experience with managing effective business relationships with key stakeholders at levels including Senior and/or Executive Management level.
  • Proven ability to develop a strategic plan integrating numerous complex functions in an airline operational environment.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems at a strategic level
  • Strong organizational skills with an aptitude to juggle priorities to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in documenting business requirements 
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours and weekends, as required.
