The Institutional Trader will report to the Vice President & Head Institutional Trader and will contribute to the implementation of the investment strategy by executing and capturing trades, tracking & analyzing internally managed portfolios and strategies as well as supporting other aspects of the investment process through data reconciliation, analysis & research.

  • Execute trades with discretionary guidelines on global markets across all asset classes (money market, fixed income, equity, FX, listed & OTC derivatives) for internally managed portfolios totalling $10 billion.
  • Propose trade ideas by tracking global markets across all asset classes by using existing information systems and by developing autonomous tools to propose trades.
  • Liaise with brokers, filter relevant information to provide market intelligence to portfolio managers.
  • Develop and maintain industry contacts to improve dealing capacity.
  • Help put in place procedures to ensure trading policies are followed.
  • Track the performance, risks and exposures of various internally managed portfolios and individual strategies across all asset classes.
  • Reconcile data from various sources to ensure that all trade decisions are made using accurate information.
  • Capture trade information into the front office system and ensure that the information is communicated to the back-office staff promptly.
  • Act as a resource person for both back-office and front-office staff for all trading/settlement related processes.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses & research projects which will support strategy and trade decisions.




  • University diploma in either finance or economics and at least 5 years of work experience relevant to the position. Master degree is an asset.
  • Professional designation (CFA) is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office products and of the Bloomberg information system.
  • Ability to communicate easily in French and English (both written and spoken).
