The Manager, Process Optimization position provides mentorship, frontline support and plays a key role in organizing the structure and discipline towards key business-related project initiatives. The individual works directly with the Senior Manager, Process Optimization and various Sites/Station Managers, Team Leaders, Supervisors, and frontline employees to foster continuous improvement, lean thinking and adoption. Key role will be to manage projects, lead teams and initiative work using a data driven approach ensuring delivery and success against desired outcomes. The individual will be tasked with supporting and ensuring integrity around observations and data capture, will need to support innovative thinking and provide support to process changes to deliver sound results. The individual also ensures to instill, create a positive and collaborative environment, inspiring employees to simplify the work environment and is committed to driving a continuous improvement culture.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with business leaders to devise and implement strategies aimed at enhancing process performance for the assigned station, ensuring the adoption of lean thinking and best practices.”
- Mentor business initiative leader on standard work practices, root cause identification, process waste, Gemba, 5S, and error-proofing opportunities.
- Expert in Lean methodology, deliver highly interactive, engaging and meaningful sessions while maintaining a high level of energy throughout the delivery.
- Empowers employees to present ideas, create improvements and solutions with business leader support.
- Support Time & Motion studies and ensure integrity of the data capture and observations
- Provides opportunities for frontline innovation and best practice replication.
- Facilitate and lead Lean events as a subject matter expert: 5S, lean layout, visual management, error-proofing, root cause analysis, etc.
- Tracks, monitors & mentors’ employees to develop and excel in their action plans to continuously improve.
- Identifies risk and issues, implementing mitigating actions to remove roadblocks.
- Ensures initiatives are aligned and synchronized for the best outcome for the organization.
- Develops, clarifies, and manages scope, defines deliverables and achieves targeted outcomes.
- Obtains approval from the process owners and sponsors on initiative changes, design, implementation of process improvement.
- Organizes business update meetings to ensure senior management is kept informed of progress and outcomes.
- Fosters the spirit of communication, collaboration within the organization leveraging new or existing best practices, tools and Operations Excellence methods.
- Ensures initiatives have an effective change management /communication plan aligned to Flight Path, Rise Higher and corporate requirements
- Ensures new processes are documented and changes are communicated and understood
- Performs other duties as assigned.by manager
Qualifications
- Demonstrated capability for inspiring and developing teams for success
- Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships and viewed as credible
- Effective communication skills and ability to influence and persuade others to action
- Experience driving process improvement / lean strategies across different areas and business processes
- Effective organizational skills and an aptitude for managing the pace of change
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering result
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent tenure as Lean Practitioner
- Lean Concepts / Value Streams / Total Productive Maintenance / Change Overs
- Black Belt Certification is an asset
- Self-starting proactive individual who can work well independently and in a team environment
- 3+ years demonstrated experience leading lean frontline initiatives, delivering benefits.
- PC proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Graphical and statistical applications).
- Able to travel.
