The Manager, International Indirect Taxes will be responsible for indirect taxes from both an advisory and compliance perspective in Europe, Middle East, India, Africa and Asia including (i) assessing implications of all proposed transactions and implementing solutions to minimize indirect tax implications and maximize tax saving opportunities (ii) all indirect tax reporting obligations and compliance obligations including e-invoicing or reporting and (iii) managing indirect tax audits and disputes. 

Accountabilities (Responsibilities):

  • Responsible for international indirect tax in EMEIA-Asia from both an advisory and compliance perspective. This will consist of;
    • Assessing the international indirect tax implications in EMEIA-Asia of all proposed transactions and implementing solutions to minimize international indirect tax implications. This will include special projects such as new systems implementation, major system modifications, new products, launch of new routes, ticketing and invoicing systems and new business partnerships or restructuring of existing partnerships. 
    • Responsible for all international indirect tax reporting obligations in EMEIA-Asia in relation to transactions and new projects by participating in the planning, configuration, testing and implementation phases of projects. 
    • Responsible for all international indirect tax compliance requirements in EMEIA-Asia including any e-invoicing or reporting obligations. 
    • Responsible for managing all international indirect tax audits and disputes in EMEIA-Asia.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on all international indirect tax legislation changes, interpretation, regulatory requirements and industry practices in EMEIA-Asia and ensuring that any necessary changes are implemented
  • Identify and secure international indirect tax saving opportunities in EMEIA-Asia. 
  • Identify and mitigate international indirect tax exposures in EMEIA-Asia.
  • Assist Director with indirect tax compliance and audits for other regions.
  • Assist Director with analyzing international indirect tax compliance practices, identifying potential opportunities and recommending changes to improve financial management and overall efficiency. 
  • Assist Director with representations on international indirect tax issues to seek interpretations or influence the policy makers.  
  • Collaborate with other tax managers and directors, to provide international indirect tax input on projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Completion of Indirect Taxes courses/ Tax degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in the indirect tax field (ideally in a large company) with focus on EMEAI and Asia. 
  • Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Experience working across regions is an asset. 
  • Significant experience interpreting and analyzing tax legislation.
  • Working knowledge of English required.
  • Significant and detailed knowledge of other international indirect tax legislation (e.g. GST, SUT) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of airlines passenger’s taxes is an asset.
  • Experience with systems implementation is an asset.
  • Experience with SOVOS and SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP application is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to be a team player.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple files.
  • Excellent organizational skills, autonomy and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
