Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cargo Revenue Planning, the Cargo Revenue Forecasting and Analytics Manager
leads analytics and forecasting projects by understanding the requirements, analyzing and collecting requisite data, and designing and developing solutions to help provide effective insights and drive decision-making. The position will assist in building revenue forecast models and play an essential role in identifying and/or coordinating key strategic and business development.
Responsibilities:
- In close collaboration with Sales and Finance, assist in the development of Cargo’s annual cargo revenue budget, outlook and long-range plans.
- Design and develop forecasting models using Machine Learning and other statistical algorithms to generate long-term volume and revenue projections for the annual revenue budget, outlooks, long-range plan, station territory sales objectives, weekly revenue tracking and monthly revenue forecast.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Network Planning, Finance, and Sales to ensure revenue forecasts align with overall business goals.
- Initiate data analysis and develop innovative and effective approaches for large-scale data analyses.
- Perform quality assessments of analytical solutions and objectively weigh trade-offs of different algorithms, particularly forecasting and optimization models.
- Communicate and document results and methodologies.
- Develop and maintain analytical models and scenario-based analyses to support strategic commercial planning and decisions to optimize Air Canada Cargo revenue profile (point of sales contribution, product mix etc.).
- Collaborate with other data teams and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in forecasting, revenue modelling, and analysis techniques and source new tools and techniques to improve forecasting accuracy and analysis quality.
Qualifications
- University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Actuarial Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Financial Accounting, Operations Research, Computer Science, etc.).
- 3+ years experience in transportation, air cargo or airline a definite asset
- Solid analytical skills a must; ability to create detailed models and to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable business insights
- Results-oriented and influential with strong people and communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Advanced Computer Skills: MS Excel (mandatory), Power BI, DataIku (desirable)
- Knowledge of a programming language (Python, R, SQL) required
