Lead the strategic development and profitable revenue growth of Air Canada in Spain and Portugal and position Air Canada as the Carrier of Choice. Develop and execute strategies to achieve or exceed the company’s revenue goals in line with the Regional EMEAI Commercial Plan. Lead the development and maintenance of preferential commercial agreements with key trade partners and corporations in close collaboration with our AJV partners to increase Air Canada’s profitability and market share. 

  • Leads & directs Air Canada’s sales efforts in Spain and Portugal through close management of local sales teams.
  • Leads & executes the local Sales Plan to achieve or exceed revenue goals in line with the company’s objectives and the EMEAI annual Commercial Sales Plan. 
  • Leads and represents Air Canada in senior level discussions with AJV partners in Spain and Portugal; including development of key account strategies, business plans and timely roll-out of annual commercial agreements.
  • Develops winning business plans to support addition tactical promotions if /when required either stand alone or in conjunction with our AJV partners.
  • Develops and executes successful strategies to drive low and shoulder season revenue including share of 6F/Sun traffic.
  • Responsible for developing for maintaining strong collaborative relationships with Senior level staff in the local Chambers of Commerce and Canadian Embassies. 
  • Responsible for development and management of the annual budget for Spain and Portugal including  providing feedback regarding outlook and performance to budget to Regional Manager Italy & Southern Europe as well as the  Finance Team
  • Acts as the ‘face’ of Air Canada at both trade and consumer event and undertakes press interviews as required.
  • Media trained in Emergency Response in order to represent Air Canada in Spain Or Portugal, if required, in the event of an incident or an accident 
  • Effectively manages the local Advertising & Promotional budget in conjunction Regional Manager Italy & Southern Europe to ensure required ROI for activities undertaken. 
  • Monitors and analyzes competitor activity and trends and makes recommendations on actions the company should undertake to counteract.
  • Ensures the Air Canada brand is highlighted and emphasized to customer base.
  • Demonstrates detailed analysis of all statistical data to understand trends and opportunities.
  • Builds deep and robust relationships with internal stakeholders at AC, including local commercial team, Sales & Communication team and Corporate Sales and Head Office teams including Revenue Management, Marketing and Network Planning.
  • Prospects for new opportunities to improve yield and revenue growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in business administration an asset
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Airline Sales or Travel industry sales experience is an asset - 
  • Experience in working with remote teams that are geographically separated.
  • Expert users in Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills. Access skills desirable
  • Knowledge of SalesForce preferable
  • Experience in distribution technologies

Linguistic Requirements

Bilingual (English and Spanish). Fluent in Spanish and English (Oral and writing). Additional languages including Catalan, Portuguese, and French preferable
