The Analyst, Tax Technology and Optimization will report directly to the Manager, Tax Technology and Data Optimization for the duration of the Unifier Project. The Analyst will be supporting the delivery and implementation of the new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform as it relates to tax data, technologies and reporting of Global commodity taxes and Global income taxes (including withholding tax). 

This position is temporary

  • Assist Manager in analyzing current tax procedures and practices in regards to compliance and reporting, identify potential opportunities, and recommend, design and implement changes to improve tax management and overall efficiency. This can take the form of:
    • Control implementation;
    • Automation;
    • Redesign of end to end process
    • Dashboard
  • Assist Manager with the configuration, testing and implementation phases of the project, in collaboration with other Finance employees and Unifier Tax Managers, more specifically as it relates to the following elements, but not limited to:
    • Gathering of data set elements at Vendor and Supplier Master level and where possible validation of these elements, including but not limited to legal names, registration numbers, addresses, exemptions certificate with effective dates validation;
    • Tax Rates set-up and maintenance throughout the various validation process;
    • Reconciliation process for ticket tax accounts;
    • Monthly and End of year closing process as it relates to Global commodity and Global income tax;
    • Implementation and design of automated periodical internal audits for commodity tax;
    • Reconciliation of accounts;
    • Implementation of various accounting, financial and tax reporting  
    • Optimization of reporting in regard to data flow and system of reporting: ERP vs Azure data warehouse.
    • Integration of subfeeder systems for revenues and expenses accounting.
  • Assist Manager in identify tax related risk items during the project, raise the risk to the appropriate stakeholder and propose a plan to mitigate those risks.
  • Assist Manager in documenting tax position and process as well as elaborate new procedures, tools and training sessions for the department to disseminate these and offer training during the deployment phase.
  • Proactively communicate and work with all tax Manager dedicated to UNIFIER project team regarding financial effects of key transactions, operations and change of process.
  • Work closely with colleagues within IT group (including Data) and other system stakeholders to ensure continuous and optimize integration points allowing future flexibility and optimization of real-time data availability.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Over 3 years of professional experience in related fields.
  • Professional accounting designation CPA is an asset.
  • Will consider Bachelor’s Degree in computer science if experience in the field of accounting is met.
  • Experience in multiple SAP S4 HANA functional areas such as SAP Finance.
  • Experience with ERP transformation and deployment, strong asset.
  • Experience in Data Migration and S/4 Hana Testing.
  • Experience using project management tool such as JIRA.
  • Expertise and deep knowledge with the SQL language, relational database framework and at least one Database Management System (Microsoft SQL-Server, Oracle) is an asset.
  • Experience with complex reports developing and data manipulations using SQL is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and Power BI is an asset.
  • Experience with Access, ACL, IDEA, SAS or other database software/languages is a strong asset.
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others.
  • Excellent communication skills / oral and written.
  • Demonstrated record of initiative and work ethics.
  • Ability to work on multiple files simultaneously using a rigorous approach.
