This role is responsible for coordinating the day to day functions within the Dangerous Goods Department by serving and processing all Air Canada Cargo Dangerous Goods shipments and ULD control. The role includes liaising with Air Canada Cargo Operations, Customer Service Unit, Warehouse personnel, Sales, Headquarters and external third parties. The role is additionally responsible for ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements for Air Canada Customers, both on all Dangerous Goods Cargo and ULD processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Dangerous Good checks are performed to IATA Standards
  • Monitor and ensure all AWB input and charging is to the required standards
  • Ensure all Company SOPs, including AC ULD process are followed
  • Ensure all Company and Third-Party computer systems are used when required
  • Ensure AC Cool Chain process is followed, including rate requests, charging and the use of WorkflowGen for ordering and end of lease actions 
  • Ensure that stationery and supplies are ordered and stock levels checked regularly 
  • Co-ordinate daily activities, observe work flow, plan and assign duties to Dangerous Goods Agents, as required ensuring sufficient use of available resources
  • Maintain constructive working relations with Operational, Customer Service and Sales functions, AC Stations and internal customers through regular dialogue
  • Participate in decision making processes to maintain consistent service standards
  • Communicate incidents of absences, recommend overtime/undertime, as required, and provide administration support in preparation of manpower planning
  • Be proactive and visible; support on the job assistance to employees through coaching and counselling; identify training and learning support requirements of the Department and record them accordingly
  • Ensure all members of staff are advised, updated and adhere to Company Policies and procedures at all times
  • Complete yearly appraisals for employees when required

Qualifications

  • 2 Years previous internal/external customer service experience
  • A good knowledge of cargo processes and procedures
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • DfT and IATA Dangerous Goods trained an asset 
  • Must be a team player and represent Air Canada in a professional manner
  • Must have an ability to use tact, good judgement and initiative, with a flexible attitude and willingness to make decisions for the benefit of both Air Canada Cargo and our Customers 
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Wear Company uniform as prescribed and conform to Company grooming standard
  • Ability to access the AC Aeronet and independently research the AC publications to determine Company procedures and processes
  • Required to wear PPE in designated high-risk areas
  • Must have ability to work in the UK unrestricted
