The Manager, Recognition Program Design will oversee the ongoing commercial design & business development of the Aeroplan Elite status program & its benefit offering. Working in a fast-paced environment, this candidate will play a key strategic role in designing & executing the program roadmap and will be responsible for the overall profitability and commercial performance of Elite status & benefits. The Manager, Recognition Program Design will uphold Air Canada’s overall objectives – the role is based in Montreal and reports to the Director, Loyalty Program Development in the Loyalty branch.

Responsibilities :

  • Overseeing commercial performance for the Elite status program, its benefit offering, and each of its sub-components (Threshold programs, Air Canada Million Mile, etc) – including financial analysis, Business Case elaboration, KPI tracking and stakeholder negotiations. 
  • Leading cross-organizational strategic planning for all corporate initiatives involving status and benefits, both internally and externally.  
  • Delivering ongoing & ad-hoc strategic competitive benchmark analysis by regularly monitoring and understanding market trends and customer behaviours, loyalty business models and competitive positioning within the Canadian marketplace, as well as the broader loyalty and airline industry.  
  • As the program’s Business Owner, this candidate will build recommendations, and inform the prioritization & development of product enhancements. 
  • Other tasks may include executive escalation responses, impact assessments, and working with various applications used to manage Air Canada’s loyalty products.  
  • Rigorously upholding the member experience and value proposition by ensuring a strong customer-centric focus in the development of new program features, while simultaneously ensuring business objectives are met.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or other related discipline required. 
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in airlines, loyalty, program management and/or travel industry. 
  • Ability to analyze primary and secondary data to inform product decisions and strategies. 
  • Strong knowledge of Aeroplan Loyalty products and programs (Aeroplan Elite, eUpgrades, Cobrand Travel Benefits, Aeroplan Threshold Programs, Air Canada Million Mile) 
  • Proficiency in Loyalty Systems (iFly) and airline Passenger Service Systems (Altea), Project Management tools (Jira, Confluence), and MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint & Word) 
  • Experience working across different stakeholders from multiple disciplines. 
  • Must be comfortable dealing with Aeroplan members directly on situations that often fall outside regular scope of the program. 
  • Good organizational and time management skills, ability to multi-task and manage long term projects. 
  • Strong operational experience, with ability to bring ideas to fruition and support project implementations to successful completion. 
  • Solid communication skills (oral & written) in English and French and ability to convey ideas to working groups within the organization.
