The Analyst, Data & Analytics is responsible for gatekeeping all changes to the data & Analytics Production ecosystem. The Analyst will master the processes surrounding Air Canada’s software change promotions and work to continuously strengthen these practices. For all releases, they must ensure all supporting deployment artifacts are complete and fully approved. For large projects we follow an exhaustive process referred to as Transfer To Operations (TTO).

This position will report to the Manager, Data & Analytics. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide support to Deployment engineers for the coordination and the prioritization of their deployment activities.
  • Use strong analytical skills to support the decisions towards the new requests.
  • Ensure data quality controls.
  • Work with Business Analyst to investigate data issues by data profiling or others. 
  • Provide audit evidence (Including Conformity & Security of the various environments) on all deployment engaged.
  • Enforce and Enhance the Deployment strategy and Enable to get the efforts needed to accomplish them.
  • Determine to root cause of any Deployment failure acting as a link between the Managers, the Data Engineers and the Data Analysts.  
  • Respect the politics & process for Deployment. 
  • Help with the automation of Deployment related tasks. 
  • Document the Deliveries. 
  • Provide Deployments statistics including implementation success. 
  • Collaborate in the search of Failure root cause due to a deployment.
  • Establish or collaborate in the Release scoping.
  • Coordinate Release planning meetings. 
  • Maintain and improve the intake process.
  • Represent the Data & Analytics changes in the various CAB and CEB. 
  • Manage communications to advise of any outages or degradation of service. 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics/Statistics. 
  • 3-5 years of IT technology or operations related experience in a large company. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in query tools (SQL is needed) and Data quality tools. 
  • Experience with Big Data technologies (e.g  Azure, Snowflakes, conventional data warehouse). 
  • Track record working with data.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g. GIT). 
  • Excellent Analysis Aptitudes. 
  • Leadership & ability to effectively manage release tasks. 
  • Ability to Multitask.
