Reporting to the Manager, Payment Products this position will be responsible for managing the commercial payment acceptance solutions offered by Air Canada. The role will focus on the optimization of payment solutions intended to promote revenue, reduce the cost of payment acceptance and provide a friction free payment experience at checkout. You will be required to have a strong background in payments and collaborate with cross functional teams to provide payment expertise and understand the payment dependencies for new solution implementation. The candidate will be working in a rapidly changing and complex payment environment and will be required to adapt to a changing marketplace while adhering to corporate priorities and within budget. 


  • Develop metrics and kpi’s to measure commercial payment program performance and recommend opportunities to reduce the cost of payment acceptance  
  • Provide knowledge of payment performance and contractual obligations that will impact the payment and distribution budget forecast  
  • Responsible for the research and competitive benchmarking of commercial payment solutions in Global markets, and recommend opportunities to improve cost effectiveness  
  • Recommend commercial payment solutions that support/increase customer acquisition, for B2B and B2C business streams. 
  • Monitor changing market regulations/business rules, and ensure AC’s remains commercially compliant. 
  • Recommend the required payment reporting and data necessary to measure commitments with preferred payment partners  
  • Liaise with regional sales teams to garner the market intelligence needed to prioritize and launch regional payment solutions  
  • Develop intuitive materials that succinctly illustrate the payment flows needed for stakeholder review of commercial payment proposals/contracts  
  • Act as payment subject matter expert internally to provide commercial insights and ensure commercial payment objectives are addressed. 
  • Manage the communication plan of new payment solutions with AC’s preferred payment partners 
  • Represent commercial payments in new product procurement efforts, to define requirements, and ensure alignment with the payment budget 
  • Make commercial payment recommendations that align with AC’s distribution strategy 
  • Understand new commercial payment technologies, trends and fintech initiatives and make recommendations to ensure AC remains competitive in the payment space 
  • Assist in the preparation and manage the dissemination of commercial payment solution product briefs to internal stakeholders
  • This position may be located in Montreal or Toronto.


  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a payment role.  
  • Demonstrate excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of successful delivery of projects on time, in line with budget expectations  
  • Knowledge or exposure to Air Canada’s products and customer value propositions is an asset 
  • Exposure to  Air Canada’s or other corporate marketing research processes, product/program planning, and post audit performance 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the payment system ecosystem and how these products/services/technologies could evolve Air Canada’s payment portfolio 
  • Ability to work in small teams and collaborate cross functionally across multiple areas of the Corporation 
  • Strong and disciplined work ethic and ability to deliver on commitments under tight deadlines 
  • Able to conceptualize and research new ideas, and objectively evaluate from a market, customer, resource, stakeholder and financial standpoint 
  • Demonstrate a high degree of tolerance for uncertainty and change management capabilities in an ever evolving industry 
  • Travel that could involve international travel
