The Senior Product Manager, Payments will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the payment product strategy. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, business development, and operations to deliver innovative payment solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth. You will have a deep understanding of the payments industry, a strong track record of delivering results, and a passion for creating exceptional customer experiences. The ideal candidate has a strong background in product management, and ability to "get things done" despite headwinds and the management of multiple projects simultaneously. This role will have significant exposure to executive stakeholders and excellent communication skills are a must have. 
 
The Senior Product Manager reports to the Director, IT Business Partnership.  
 
Responsibilities:  
  • Develop and execute a payment product roadmap that aligns with the overall company strategy and meets customer needs. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver payment solutions that are easy to use, secure, and scalable. 
  • Manage the product backlog and prioritize features and enhancements based on customer needs and business value. 
  • Drive product decisions using data-driven analysis and experimentation. 
  • Responsible for accessing/building payment capabilities and services to meet customer needs, drive adoption and deliver value 
  • Work with the Enterprise Business Architecture team to leverage their long-term strategy and analysis 
  • Collaboration with business partners on go-forward strategy and align priorities of both enhancements and performance 
  • Translate payment needs into product feature and functions that can be incorporated into an executable roadmap that can be deployed 
  • Collaborate with other product groups across Air Canada including distribution channels, technology, marketing and other specialist areas as necessary 
  • Support and provide strategic direction for the development of the product delivery and servicing roadmap 
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships by effectively communicating and regularly sharing information, learnings and knowledge with internal and external business partners. 
  • Act in business owner capacity to ensure the successful end to end delivery of payments projects 
  • Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies relating to payments and disruptive players in the ecosystem 
  • Understand the evolving customer and business needs and proactively develop to meet those needs within the online and mobile experience 
  • Responsible for driving product development from an enterprise and cross channel perspective and ensure reuse and efficiency 
  • Monitor the regulatory environment, emerging issues, trends, and partner with the senior management to consider changes to product strategy as needed 
  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit 
  • Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices

Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years relevant experience in payments industry in a Product specific role 
  • Must have payments experience; understanding and having developed product strategies  
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion. 
  • Proven track record of delivering successful payment products. 
  • Deep understanding of payment systems, regulations, and security standards. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively (both speaking and writing), provide direction and build relationships across teams and functions 
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects.
