Reporting to the Senior Manager, Catering Product Design, the Manager, Catering Product is responsible for the development, planning and management of current and new meal services & standards of all flights across Air Canada
Key Functions & Accountabilities:
- Lead the development of new menus to elevate the customer experience while ensuring deliverables are met, including, operational, financial and commercial aspects
- Design meal specifications that are aligned with the overall product strategy and implement these for menu changes, new stations start-ups and service concepts
- Lead the implementation & operationalization of new menus and catering product initiatives, including all relevant communication, sourcing requirements and updating of internal & external documentation
- Manage the Air Canada Special Meal program catering requirement
- Create and maintain documentation associated with meal changes; meal grids, catering documentation, onboard cabin crew serving instructions and billing files
- Conduct meal presentations with caterers and support new station start-ups
- Maintain audit and compliance processes to ensure that products are delivered as per specifications and identify any opportunities for improvement
- Manage strategic partnerships and contractual requirements related to product scope; this includes caterers and nominated suppliers
- Provide direction on feedback received related to Catering from all and external sources and adjust the Catering product as necessary
- Analyze cost impact associated with menu refresh or new product & standard initiatives
- Lead the catering product tender process, including specification requirements, vendor review and selection, AFC presentation
- Negotiate with suppliers & caterers on pricing and ensure Air Canada has a competitive and quality product.
- Maintain budget targets; manage meal and product unit costs for designated portfolio
- Contribute to annual catering budget preparation
- Provide problem resolution for escalated product & supplier/caterer issues
- Stay current with industry developments and trends and ensure the Air Canada product is relevant and competitive
Qualifications

Strong analytical and organizational skills with an aptitude to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities

Proven ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision

Sense of initiative, self-discipline, proactive thinking and problem solving

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Self-motivated and a self-initiator with drive to deliver results as required by business objectives

High degree of adaptability and flexibility.

Requires knowledge of commercial airline business

5 years’ experience in airline catering & vendor management an asset

Strong teamwork attitude and collaborative approach

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Experience in managing large-scale budget and complex cross-functional projects an asset.

Ability to work flexible hours, as required.

Available to travel as required.

Bilingual preferred - English and French.
