As a part of that growth, we are investing in setting up a PSS Competency Centre made of dedicated development and technical resources to develop core functionality using the Amadeus Passenger Service platform.  
 
Air Canada is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to head the PSS Competency Centre which will play a critical role in delivering key Commercial and Operational initiatives for Air Canada. The person will be responsible for all aspects of setting up and running the Competency Centre, including responsibility to build and manage the delivery roadmap, Program Implement planning, backlog management, risk management, resourcing strategy, financial reporting and outlook, continuous process improvement, as well as managing all communications related to PSS deliverables.   This position requires strong knowledge in business acumen, vendor management, and team (and virtual team) leadership. 

This position will be reporting to “Director, Passenger Service System (PSS), Application Development and Maintenance”, responsible for all Altea PSS applications.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Work closely with the PSS teams, Air Canada Business Partner teams, other IT teams, Amadeus and other relevant stakeholders to plan and deploy platform components aligned with key business objectives.
  • Manage a diverse team of internal staff and external vendors to deliver projects, initiatives and complex changes on time, and on-budget, while maintaining a laser focus on risk management and the end user experience.
  • Accountable to develop the Competency Centre roadmap
  • Manage all PSS deliverables with responsibility to track dependencies outside of Competency Centre deliverables
  • Oversee the performance and utilization of PSS Competency Centre teams
  • Analyze and resolve prioritization or contention issues 
  • Build and plan strategy around resourcing ramp-up 
  • Develop and implement operating process improvements to improve effectiveness and reduce development costs 
  • Manage PSS Competency Centre budget, including accruals, invoices and outlook.
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with internal IT standards related to operations, quality and security

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of IT technology experience, 2+ managing teams in a large, complex organizations
  • 10+ years experience in the use of Altea products and applications and Jira/Confluence products
  • Strong skills and proven experience in key aspects of software development, including planning, testing and implementation.
  • Good understanding of the agile software development processes with distributed development teams. 
  • Certification and strong experience in Project Management or as Scrum Master an asset.
  • Strong hands-on experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies a significant benefit.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and autonomous worker, capable of motivating others
  • Possesses an investigative nature 
  • Results oriented with a proactive and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure against tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • A team player with ability to work closely and cooperatively with diverse groups and working styles
  • Takes responsibility for the results and future direction of the organization. Demonstrated concern that one be perceived as responsible, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours when required
  • Willingness to delegate responsibility and to work with others and coach them to develop their capabilities
