IT Financial Strategy and Planning is a critical part of the IT Office of the CIO organization working closely with executives and senior leaders across the Air Canada IT organization.
The Advisor, IT Financial Strategy and Planning is responsible for one of the cross functional domain areas that includes managing and advancing Technical Business Management of IT Financial Management practices. This includes Financial Budget Strategy, data maturity, optimization and standardization of processes, governance, planning, and/or reporting across Air Canada’s IT organization.
Reporting to the Sr Strategy Manager of IT Strategy, Planning and Performance, the Advisor is a member of an evolving team and will be exposed to all aspects of the IT Organization and can work on a variety of challenges to develop and implement improvements for optimal performance.
Responsibilities:
IT Strategy
-
Manage the creation, implementation and reviews of IT budget strategy driving adjustments to ensure alignment to IT and corporate strategic goals and objectives

Conduct regular reviews of IT budget; recommend and implement adjustments to ensure maximum value and optimal performance

Collaborate with IT business owners for regular reporting and communications

Benchmark IT costs to peers in airline industry

Work with IT Financial Management program and develop maturity roadmap
Finance:
-
Manage the IT branch budget development, regular updates to financial outlook and reporting on budget/outlook performance working in collaboration with Finance and Functional IT teams

Support analysts and collaborate in bottoms up build of budget activities

Establish IT Cost Allocation methodology to enable true cost of IT services utilizing ITFM program in place
IT Processes and Governance

Host and conduct reviews for IT financial commitment business case presentations and recommend improvements and while ensuring alignment with IT finance strategy

Provide recommendations on business and economic impact, and compliance issues surrounding key business decisions

Manage documentation and maintenance of business case processes ensuring clear impacts to budget and ownership are coordinated
Qualifications
-
7-10 years in experience in strategy, finance, change management, process improvement and/or consulting in a large company or a management consulting firm

A university degree in business, finance, economics or other relevant discipline. Master’s degree is an asset

Demonstrated exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills with a keen key for detail

Experience with Apptio, Peoplesoft and Hyperion an asset

Ability to synthesize information and create executive level reports, presentations and communications tailored to different audience

Outstanding skills with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
