As the Senior Manager of the IT Product Management Center of Excellence, you will cut-across organizational boundaries with a collaborative approach to drive a unified, best in-class approach to Product Management for a global portfolio of products with the IT team. Leading efforts to develop, evangelize & coach the discipline across IT teams. This is a high-visibility and high-impact role, with an opportunity to work across/influence a diverse team. The incumbent will act as an entrepreneurial change leader, who has a passion for building empowered product teams, enjoys the craft and wants to evolve how Air Canada imagines and builds technology products & services.
 
Functional Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Drive adoption of product thinking mindset across multiple IT teams.
  • Coach, and develop empowered IT Business Partnership team through change management, embracing a workforce of the future mindset
  • Design, implement and evolve organizational operating systems that define culture, practice, structure, leadership.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders and experts to establish best practices and identify opportunities to improve the business requirements and development process.
  • Be a culture builder with your teams, across Air Canada and within the IT Business Partnership and travel communities.
  • Develop a technical product talent pipeline, define growth paths for our teams.
  • Develop communities of practice to grow our technical product talent capabilities and nurture continuous learning.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key industry thought leaders to improve vision and improve success
  • Arrange and sponsor appropriate assignments and experiences to help people realise their potential and support their long-term aspirations.
  • Drive and take ownership for developing connections that help deliver what is best for our people and stakeholders.
  • Influence and facilitate the creation of long-term relationships which add value to Air Canada.
  • Influence Technical Product Management accountability models including P&L and other Financial Performance Measurement approaches; establish relevant KPIs relative to Strategy
  • Drive overall Portfolio Performance through coaching, mentoring, and active participation in Business Case development & assessment
  • Develop and grow team members to achieve their potential and ensure great organizational resilience and continuity.
  • Drive outcomes in a manner that is consistent with Air Canada values and aligned to Air Canada’s goals
  • Develop, administer, and adhere to the annual budget allocated for the role’s business function
  • Mentor staff members outside the immediate leadership chain as a senior leader, contributing to the overall IT culture and performance.
  • Foster a team environment, recommend training programs targeting specific areas of improvement, mentor members of the IT team and provides inputs to performance reviews.  Build organizational talent by creating a learning environment that ensures employees realize their highest potential
  • Participate in Steering, Management and Operational Committees as required.
  • The role operates in a complex environment and requires the ability to balance tactical day-to-day initiatives with business and strategic initiatives.  We are entering a phase of transformation and this role will drive this change from the front.  The role functions with a high degree of autonomy and independent judgment. 

 

Qualifications

  • A relevant University degree/technical certification, and/or relevant experience commensurate to the role
  • 9+ years of IT technology and operations experience in a large company 
  • 5+ years of functional experience in Change Management or Product management function
  • 5+ years of experience facilitating the development and implementation of teams in incubator type of setting
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to gather information from disparate sources to identify trends/gaps and build solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, outside of direct reports
  • Understand and integrate business strategies and trends in technology to deliver value
  • Ability to influence and break down silos within and across organizations
  • Ability to focus on business value results, rather than solutions
  • Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating conflict and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes at executive levels
