Reporting to the Director, Airline Partnerships & Commercial Strategy, this position will be responsible for contributing to and executing Air Canada’s Alliance’s strategy, including maintaining and enhancing the airline’s most important partnerships as well as implementing new partnerships to support the airline’s international network growth. 
Job Description
  • Identify, secure, and develop new partnership opportunities to support Air Canada’s international network growth.  
  • Cultivate relationships with partners to explore new opportunities beyond initial scope of alliance. 
  • Oversee financial evaluations of new and existing codeshare and joint venture relationships. 
  • Interact with senior management on partnership reporting and ensure execution and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities or threats and subsequent implementation of any changes to ensure continued partnership viability. 
  • Liaise and facilitate work with IT, Scheduling, Revenue Management, Product Distribution, Finance, Network Planning, Sales, and other relevant departments to support the launch of new relationships or to resolve issues presented by the partner and/or Air Canada.
  • Responsible for negotiating Letters of Intent (LOI) and Definitive Agreements aligned to department/company policies and procedures and in compliance with all pertinent regulatory requirements; collaborate with outside legal counsel as appropriate.  
  • Manage all activities related to the negotiations from initiation to signature. 
  • Contribute information and recommendations to alliance strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends; deliver quarterly reporting and implement change.
  • Stay relevant with the market trends through self education.
  • Present and secure buy-in for alliance ideas and plans with internal teams, including senior management. 
  • Motivate and drive cross-functional teams within Air Canada in support of the alliance strategy; build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure Air Canada meets or exceeds all Star Alliance requirements whilst optimizing revenue opportunities within AC. 
  • Lead the interfacing with the different commercial departments across Air Canada and coordinate the requirements needed for Air Canada to comply with Star Alliance. Anticipate and identify risks in meeting the requirements on time and take action as required. 


  • Post-secondary degree and 5+ years of experience in commercial branch of an airline, transportation, or travel industry. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in complex environments to drive initiatives while working across organizations and structuring approaches to new opportunities.  
  • Ability to manage a large volume of priorities effectively and simultaneously to completion. 
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional teams to implement complex projects. 
  • Proven ability to develop and present PowerPoint presentations for executives 
  • Demonstrated ability to form concepts, solutions, and visions both as an individual and collaboratively. 
  • Highly analytical with strong quantitative skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong team orientation with the ability to work independently. 
  • Effective negotiation skills and high degree of diplomacy
  • Ability to develop and implement creative solutions and influence others in their adoption.
  • Proven ability to recognize, analyze, and act on business cases around strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in presenting and speaking publicly
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint capability 
  • Robust understanding of the key functions within the commercial branch of an airline
  • Ability to communicate in English and French would be an asset.
