The Resource Scheduling Specialist is responsible for operational and cost objective metrics through efficient and strategic resource scheduling.
  • Reconcile headcount base salaries along with overtime and under time payments
  • Develop and execute the staffing bids for assigned station/region
  • Manage long term vacancies and ensure staff is allocated
  • Liaise with union representatives to address employee concerns
  • Manage vacation levels and subsequent backfill
  • Executes equalization of staff schedules at the completion of a staffing bid
  • Delivers advanced planning of staffing levels a month in advance in response to operational changes of the monthly headcount targets while controlling costs
  • Prepare documentation & reporting of schedule assignments for payroll purposes
  • Responsible for tracking and coordination of staff hiring, of staff movement and/or employee status change
  • Manage rolling employee seniority lists resulting from retirements, resignations, transfers, and terminations
  • Communicate schedules and assignments directly to employees
  • Monthly payroll/headcount audit
  • Manage escalation of employee pay concerns
  • Ensure that risks related to Safety and Security are addressed. 
  • Responsible for supporting the safety of operations within their assigned region. 
  • Supports the audits of Air Canada SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Ensures compliance with standards of IOSA, SMS and other applicable authorities.
  • Responsible for supporting Management for safety, security, and customer service activities within responsible region.
  • Anticipates and identifies safety, security, service, and operational problems, and resolves them with the branch safety team while maintaining the focus on safety.
  • Development of daily staff rosters
  • Control of time off incurred with shift cycle changes, assignments ensuring appropriate payroll advise
  • Responsible for processing/approving requests from union office for union time clearance
  • Prepares all work plan related documents for distribution to unionized employees
  • Responsible to coordinate with employee reliability on all rehabilitation assignments and return to work changes
  • Develops and deploys plan to achieve mandatory and regulatory training of unionized employees including completion and compliance

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset; thorough knowledge of IAMAW or CAW collective agreements
  • Willingness to be flexible with scheduled working hours
  • Compliance with standards of IOSA, SMS and other applicable authorities
