Reporting to the Senior Manager Cargo Performance & Development, the Manager Global Ground Transportation Logistics will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing ground transportation services. This role is accountable to ensure Cargo network revenues are maximized while minimizing costs through timely and efficient management solutions. The Manager, Global Ground Transportation Logistics will work closely with internal and external parties to oversee supply chain management solutions and construct plans to support managed services and inter-related functions through joint development and implementation of trucking programs to meet company needs/goals.

Key Function & Accountabilities:
  • Manage and plan for trucking logistics (schedule, carrier selection, adherence to established criteria) 
  • Co-negotiate contracts with third-party providers
  • Develop, communicate, and execute short and long-range strategic objectives, business plans, policies, processes, and budgets.
  • Continually drive the quality, cost, and timelines of our logistics model
  • Direct and lead tactical cost reduction projects while developing the future logistics strategy
  • Establish/update service level agreements and ensure adherence 
  • Manage carrier selection, including relationships, services and rate negotiation.
  • Create/manage presentations for executive review and approval, and requests for Authorization for Commitment (AFC)
  • Manage all aspects of the budgeting, outlook preparation, accruals, and report analysis
  • Optimize truck programs/networks to meet the needs of a variety of customers
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with both internal and external parties through KPIs, audits and performance calls
  • Implement a tracking tool for the status of shipments in real-time to ensure contracts are fulfilled
  • Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining a high quality of service
  • Review service failures and work with the stations and carriers on corrective action plans. 
  • Analyze Road Feeder Service (RFS) opportunities, evaluate alternatives, and create measurable solutions to support business requirements
  • Introduce new systems and procedures to enhance the performance of the RFS network
  • Design and develop Key Performance Indicators regarding carrier and lane cost performance.
  • Provide direction and guidance on RFS Network and Schedule Planning.
  • Provide commercial direction and input into the RFS budget exercise
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams and initiatives to further expand and optimize the current RFS network
  • Partner with Sales & Operations to develop the most optimal schedule from a commercial and network profitability
  • Reassess and manage the Pick-Up & Delivery products offering.
  • Adhere to the organization's safety policies in accordance with company policies and applicable safety standards and regulations
  • Provide monthly updates on the status of projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Remain abreast of new developments and techniques around trucking

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration majoring in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience with three (3) years of operational experience with an Air Operator in at least one or more of the following areas: airports, cargo, or security
  • Experience in trucking an asset
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Autonomous with decision-making skills
  • Able to direct and lead tactical cost reduction projects initially while developing the future logistics strategy
  • Strong knowledge of logistics infrastructure, international commerce, customs regulation, and international supply chain processes
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to influence others
  • Strong Customer focus
  • Quality Management (ASQ, CQMgr) or equivalent is an asset
  • Possess expert knowledge of Weblynx and customs messaging systems is an asset
