Reporting to the Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Sustainability, the Director, Corporate Sustainability Communications and Reporting leads the production of corporate reports and is responsible for Air Canada’s ESG reporting processes. The position’s responsibilities include cross-functional engagement throughout the company and also with various external stakeholders.  In doing so, he/she will contribute to the sustainability strategy and good reputation of Air Canada.
  • Lead and provide direction to the Corporate Sustainability communications and ESG reporting team.
  • Responsible for the production of Air Canada’s Annual Information Form, Annual Report, Corporate Sustainability report, TCFD report and other related reporting.  
  • Lead the implementation of Air Canada’s omni-channel corporate sustainability communication plan for effective engagement with key stakeholders.
  • In partnership with key internal stakeholders, lead the planning and execution of annual ESG due diligence and disclosure processes.
  • Ensure robust and compliant processes and roles and responsibilities surrounding the collection and management of ESG data.
  • Keep abreast of ESG trends and legislation to ensure Air Canada’s reporting operations are in compliance with applicable laws. 
  • Primary subject matter expert on ESG internal or external reporting, including measurement, disclosure requirements, standards and frameworks and industry trends. Monitor and manage external ESG reporting trends and best practices, as well as developments in the international ESG reporting standards and frameworks space (e.g., GRI, SASB, UN SDGs and TCFD).  Continuously assess the expectations of key stakeholders. 
  • Optimize ESG metrics, disclosure and reporting processes.  Lead the development of ESG disclosure roadmap, including the development of new ESG metrics, as applicable.
  • Work closely with others on the development of indicator protocol documents for key ESG metrics in support of building governance and controls within the reporting process.
  • Oversee the annual assurance process with external third-party assurance provider and internal subject matter experts.
  • Oversee the preparation of briefs, presentations and summaries for executive audience.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Sustainability with content planning and production for annual engagement events.  Participate in the preparation of content for the Annual General Meeting and other corporate events. 
  • Develop and manage strong working relationships and maintain open dialogue with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Active member of the Corporate Sustainability working group.  Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills to build a network across the company, as well as effective time management and organizational skills to respond to ad hoc ESG related requests.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Bilingual - able to write and communicate fluently in both French and English.
  • 10+ years of progressive Public Relations, Corporate Communications and/or reporting experience.
  • Unsurpassed planning and project management skills.
  • Capable of handling confidential information with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
  • Exceptional ability to interact and collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, organized and accountable for follow-through.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including employee, media and marketing communications and investor relations.
