Scope of position :
The Flight Operations Operational Excellence group is responsible for an array of transformational services including Process Excellence, Finance Analytics and Strategy Development. The organization supports business units across organization.
The overall charter of the Flight Operations Operational Excellence group is to establish a culture of process, drive process outcomes in key finance transformation programs, and closely partner with different stakeholders to build process maturity. This is integral to the upcoming transformation within Transport Canada and the FAA where governance will be fully process based.
This role is within the Flight Operations Operational Excellence group and is responsible for continuous improvement initiatives relating to Flight Operations processes, with the goals of aligning process standards, integrating lean enterprise system principles as well as ensuring processes are efficient, effective and compliant with company expectations, external regulations, standards and industry benchmarks. They will be a key member of the Process Excellence team and report directly to the Manager, Operational Excellence Analytics and Business Improvement.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with management and subject matter experts will be required in order to build trust and cooperation with various departments, and to develop a deep understanding of the operation. This will be crucial in order to develop quality controls and performance metrics that add value to Flight Ops.
Key Function & Accountabilities :
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the organisation; be responsible for gathering and documenting business and system requirements, current and proposed process mappings, and ensuring that the solutions resulting from the development meet these requirements.
- Mine data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganize, integrate said data in a format that can be easily read by various stakeholders.
- Prepare reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
- Collaborate with programmers, data engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend system modifications.
- Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts. Visualize high-readability data insights using tools like Power BI.
- Communication and Change Management: Contribute to project planning, supports the Manager, Operational Excellence Analytics and Business Improvement by arranging and leading appropriate meetings, following up on issues and sign-offs, producing status documentation and meeting minutes and informing team members of key milestones.
- Conduct PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis), SWOT analyses, gap analyses and process risk assessments, as appropriate.
- Work with the Document Management department to implement a process document standard and template for processes.
- Author and implement the Flight Operations Administrative Processes and Procedures Manual (FOAPPM) to contain all processes that are non-approvable by regulation.
- Document all existing and future processes, as well as changes, into the FOAPPM.
- Lead complex process improvement initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

University degree in engineering or related quantitative field.

Strong analytical and applied logic skills.

Creative problem solver who thinks strategically, is results oriented and attentive to details.

Ideal candidate must be self-motivated, have the ability to multi-task, and work effectively in an unstructured environment.

Experience driving process improvement / lean strategies across different areas and business processes.

High self-awareness with an active listening approach and team player.

Proficiency in programming and/or knowledge in: Teradata, Azure, SQL, R, MS Power BI, WebFocus, MS Excel, VBA, MS SharePoint.

Ability to understand financial implication of operational decisions and develop cost-benefit studies.

2+ years demonstrated experience with Business Process Management.

Understanding of airline operations preferred.
