Supporting the US Employee Services team, the Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of HR Services. The specialist will be responsible for the day to day operations to ensure accurate and timely delivery of all services provided to the US based population in the area of Human Resources.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Air Canada policies as they relate to HR.
  • Research and report on HR policies to ensure Company is compliant with state and federal regulations
  • Maintain and monitor employee records, including 401K data, ensuring accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as OSHA, I-9, etc.
  • Monitor various employee leaves, including worker’s compensation, FMLA, sick leave, etc.
  • Provide support and guidance to both internal and external partners for all matters relating to HR
  • Collaborate with other internal business units as required including Payroll, Labor Relations, Pensions, Compensation, Legal, Corporate Benefits, Finance, Accounts Payable, and Employee Travel to resolve employee issues and improve employee experience.
  • Ensure adherence to the collective agreements as well as provide guidance to internal customers in matters related to wages, time and attendance prescribed within the agreements.
  • Responsible for compiling reports as required, including absenteeism
  • Assist with various audits, such as Workers compensation, 401K, etc.
  • Support Recruiting team with internal recruiting process
  • Provide support to Payroll team as necessary
  • Respond to 3rd party requests, such as disability & unemployment claims; respond to DOL surveys as required

Qualifications

  •  Multi-state HR experience required. Payroll experience an asset.
  • Mature self-starter with the ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated strong customer focus skills
  • Ability to exercise judgement, confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of tact and discretion
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment
  • Strong computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite and other software
  • Some travel required (domestic and international)
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Workday, and ADP an asset
  • College Degree (asset)
