The Manager, Business Insights is responsible for the Business Insights analytical team in the Operations Excellence organization. This position provides direction, support and mentorship to a team of analysts focused on operational performance insight that delivers value for the business by utilizing various analytical approaches. Cultivating the adoption of fact-based decisions and use of Business Insight tools, the Manager will work collaboratively with value streams to transform business needs into clear requirements for operational reports and KPI’s, while ensuring solution alignment and innovation. The Manager, Business Insights acts as the key liaison to Corporate IT for any matters regarding data integration and validation of the EDW. This role is responsible for developing and managing the KPI Playbook and standards in line with Operations Excellence strategies and ensures department completes required technical documentation for all KPIs and online processing applications. 

  • Provide oversight and leadership to operations business insight analytics team.
  • Perform market research on current analytics platforms and innovations, cost and trend to implement best practices.
  • Work with Director, Business Insight & Quality Assurance to prioritize and assess technical feasibility of future Business Insight projects.
  • Perform data discovery activities to drive performance improvement both financially and operationally.
  • Work with data management team to ensure data warehouse and data lake environments contain appropriate data for analytic purposes
  • Ensure alignment of analytic philosophies are in line with operational improvement practices.
  • Own, develop and manage KPI Playbook including Operational standards /definitions.
  • Oversee innovation labs for advanced data modelling and statistical techniques.
  • Utilize passion for analytics; ownership of the processes, design and deployment of statistical models.
  • Actively participate in overall goals of the development team, remain current with and provide input to the development of the overall IT platform.
  • Recognize opportunities for reporting system improvements and makes recommendations.
  • Responsible for delivering analytic projects for Operations Excellence Team via R, Python, Tensor Flow.
  • Provide production support and maintains quality of statistical solutions in terms of application stability, performance, design, documentation and change management.
  • Guide analytic team with analytic concepts, usage, technical implementation.
  • Monitor existing analytic work on a day-to-day basis from technical perspective.
  • Manage and maintain Delay Code Documentation and any other data cleansing and/or mining documents.
  • Maintain sound knowledge of all back-end data sources (Netline, smartsuite, NetlineCrew, etc.)

  • Ensure data governance rules are adhered to in all reporting structures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision, and within a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several concurrent assignments effectively.
  • Strong Analytical / Mathematical background, with an Undergraduate degree in Mathematics or Computer Science preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability for inspiring and developing teams for success.
  • Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships.
  • Six Sigma / LEAN qualifications an asset.
  • 4+ years’ experience with analytics platforms (R, python, tensor flow, etc.).
  • Webfocus Certification / experience a strong asset.
  • 5+ years experience with SQL based programming and data management.
  • Expertise in other MS Office applications - Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in Teradata an asset.
  • Experience with XML, HTML and JAVA languages.
  • Project management skills and experience an asset.
  • Extremely well versed in Database Maintenance and performance monitoring and debugging.
  • Experience with Operational day-to-day transactional systems an asset.
