To oversee short to long-range Cabin Crew staffing plans. Ensure that Cabin Crew availability accurately matches the requirements of the day to day operation by performing in-depth data analysis on projected flying hours, augmentation requirements, crew obligations, crew availability, and leaves. Establish forecasts and maintain metrics to align and reconcile staffing models, operational results, and budget.


These accountabilities are also extended to support planning requirements for Air Canada Rouge.

  • Facilitate long term and short term Cabin Crew coverage planning, providing efficient and cost effective crewing solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth schedule manipulation and analysis to support staffing requirements, as well as determine optimal crew base allocations.
  • Maintain the Cabin Crew staffing model to ensure alignment with commercial, operational and business needs.
  • Ensure the Advance Planning team meets deadlines for all short term/long term staffing decisions.
  • Establish classification/base allocation and language targets. Liaise with marketing and related parties to align language requirements and ensure that company’s objectives are met.
  • Coordinate with Pairing Managers for adjustments to manpower distribution to ensure optimized coverage and cost efficient solutions.
  • Provide continuous adjustments based on operation/resource plan modifications. Develop contingency plans to manage changes to crew availability and/or requirements.
  • Manage weekly changes to the staffing plan as well as to the schedule. Identify significant changes. Highlight variances vs. budget.
  • Generate and manage forecasts for model assumptions. Measure and recalibrate assumptions based on past performance.
  • Forecast yearly reserve allocations and ensure appropriate reserve levels are assigned and managed.
  • Develop reports to track model inputs and assumptions. Engage in model enhancements, measures, and improve assumptions tied to deliverables.
  • Continuously look for improvements to crew plan to increase staffing efficiencies
  • Participate in regular meetings with all related groups that affect short term/long term assumptions. Hold other teams accountable to their deliverables. Adapt as necessary.
  • Establish crew targets to develop training/ recruitment plans as required.
  • Provide schedule targets for Corporate Scheduling and communicate regular reports on performance against targets.
  • Chair regularly scheduled performance reviews with key stakeholders to report on performance measures and future projections.
  • Pro-actively identify changes & possible updates to crew planning business processes based on reporting and analysis that will improve crewing efficiency and minimize costs for the company.
  • Run scenarios to simulate potential impact of operational variations, such as changes to schedules and equipment types, crew base allocations and other resources. Analyze potential cost to the business through analysis of prospective changes and propose adjustments to minimize the costs.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with other departments including,-Operations, Inflight Services, Training, Recruitment, and Air Canada Rouge.
  • Ensure planning is in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Forecast inputs for budget, outlooks, and ad hoc deliverables.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports / analysis.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows based programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Air Canada system knowledge an asset.
  • Previous Experience working with Collective Agreements
  • In Flight Service and/or Flight Operations experience is a definite asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French, an asset.
