Job Description

Description

Are you passionate about reaching new heights, teamwork and making a meaningful contribution? Do you picture yourself as a valued member of an industry-leading organization? If you answered yes to these questions, Air Canada is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the diverse and vibrant team working together to lead the growth and expansion of Canada’s flag carrier.

Air Canada is seeking an experienced and dynamic senior leader to mature and manage four major areas in IT: IT Strategy, Planning and Management Reporting including IT Transformation, Project Management Office, Business Analyst Center of Excellence and overall IT Compliance management. This role is a critical member of the IT Senior Management team and acts as the central coordination point for many cross functional required IT capabilities.

IT Strategy, Planning and Management Reporting: The continued evolution of the IT branch will require strong management and evolution of the overall “IT 2020” AmbiT!on plan on a monthly and annual basis. The requirement to track progress to the larger milestones as well as provide risk and opportunity support will be required to achieve the mandate. This function will be supported heavily by HR and Finance as we model out service delivery models and the economics and HR implications of planned changes in this area. IT Transformation will result in an organization that will support the global champion and this role (IT Services) will play an integral coordination role in all activities. IT is undertaking a significant transformation with many parallel activities, touching IT staff, our partners and our customer and the delivery of effective management reporting and engagement during this time of change will be a critical function.

Project and Portfolio Management. These are exciting times for IT at Air Canada, with many major projects underway that will transform the IT landscape in the company, such as the replacement of the company’s core Passenger Service System, a new Loyalty Program and a new Operations Platform. Air Canada is also investing in new technologies that will facilitate its digital transformation. There are also many smaller projects underway and planned, which span all facets of IT. The IT Project Management Office will define guidelines, policies, practices and a common toolset for program delivery at AC. It will further provide a delivery assurance review function to assist in quality application of these guidelines and standards to facilitate consistent, strong program delivery across all IT departments.

IT Compliance: The IT team has a number of compliance activities that are part of both annual processes (SOX / PCI) as well as ad hoc remediation on audits, outage major incident reviews and emerging new standards. This requires both internal and external party engagement and tracking will liaise directly with the AC audit team as well as external risk management parties.

The newly formed Center of Excellence (COE) for Business Analysts will serve in similar fashion to set up a set of guidelines, policies, practices and a common toolset for business analyst capabilities at AC. It will further provide a delivery assurance review function to assist in quality application of these guidelines and standards to facilitate consistent, strong BA support across all IT departments. This will evolve as we move towards a more agile system of delivery but will be required in the medium term while we make that transition.

This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and is a critical member of the IT Senior Management Team. The individual will interact with other leaders within IT, with Executives and staff of other departments, with IT business partners, with external service partners and with technical and non-technical team members.
