The company data management and analytics group (Data and Analytics) receives requests from various branches of the organization to extract, store and transform data in the Teradata data warehouse. This group is also responsible for modelling and optimizing data from various airline operations.


The Data and Analytics team wishes to strengthen its team and support it in accomplishing its daily operations and in carrying out projects (i.e. CRM data).

  • Implementation of a corporate dimensional data model
  • Modelling data and metadata in Erwin
  • Ability to describe data mapping and data migration techniques
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing dimensional models and data flow diagrams
  • Building logical database models for new databases, and capturing complex business data requirements
  • Writing functional and technical documentation (traceability of ETL tasks, current and desired processes, data models, architecture diagrams, etc.)

The selected candidate will have training in computer science, more specifically in business intelligence/analytics and will work under the supervision of the Enterprise Data Warehouse service head but will also work with various members of the group. Must have practical knowledge of SQL code and all other programming languages.

  • Analyze large quantities of Air Canada data, then extract pertinent information in order to map the relations that they generate
  • Document ETL tasks and define the dependencies in the tables and views
  • Document and review the processes in place
  • Revise and dimensionally model the data currently in the data warehouse
  • Identify and document the transformations between the various environments, using a provided template
  • Various communications tools useful for operations
  • Support the enterprise data team
  • Communicating and validating the analyses and models with various teams
  • Understanding the functioning of ETL tasks, their dependence and their impact on various business units as well as gathering as much information as possible involving various actors in the chain (source data providers, IBM, internal clients)

  • University degree in computer science or in similar fields or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years in data modeling
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience with data modeling for a Teradata database, is an asset
  • Autonomous
